On Sunday. December 16, FBC voted (95% affirmative) to call Bro. Scott Hunter as pastor. Bro. Scott will begin serving as pastor the first Sunday in January 2019. Interim pastor Dr. Tim Williams will preach on December 23 and 30, with a celebration of his leadership on Sunday, December 30.
In responding to the call, Bro. Scott said, “we are excited to see what God does through this faith community in Fulton and Itawamba County.”
Bro. Scott Hunter, a native of Cullman, Alabama, and his wife Rebekah (the former Rebekah Plunkett of Dorsey, MS,) have two children Kayce (16) and Aiden (13). Rebekah is a school/guidance counselor at Tremont High School. The Hunters reside at 3731 Harden Chapel Road, Fulton, MS. Bro. Scott has a BA degree in Interdisciplinary Studies/Christian counseling from Liberty University and had completed 15 hours towards a MA in Pastoral Counseling/Discipleship and Church Ministry from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary. He was licensed and ordained by the Pike’s Peak Baptist Association, Colorado Springs, CO. He has various experiences in church work: church planter, bi-vocational associate pastor, associational youth director, pastor of youth and children, and associate pastor. He cofounded and served as program director of Merge Ministries which focused on youth and parents experiencing God together through retreats, camps, and family mission trips. He has also served as discipleship counselor for Victorious Christian Life Institute, and he currently serves as missionary trainer for Great Commission India Ministries (GCIM). Bro. Scott will lead services on Sunday morning, Sunday evening, and Wednesday night and dedicate two days a week to church work (Wednesday and another day to be determined) while working the other days with his brother-in-law who owns Discount Rooter Plumbing.
